Bending machines from ProHandling
Bending machines are a well-known product in the industry. In general, a distinction is made between the three main groups of profile or tube bending machines, sheet metal or round bending machines and mandrel bending machines. These machines are used in metal and steel construction and are used for the smallest applications up to stadium, bridge or wind tower construction.
Where can I find a bending machine and who is the right manufacturer?
The right manufacturer is always the one who has a good quality-price-performance ratio on the product side and can also advise you well about the representation in Germany and offer you support.
ProHandling decides to work only with manufacturers who meet strict product and company requirements. That’s why we chose Akyapak. You can view round and profile bending machines at ProHandling in the warehouse or at trade fairs where we are represented.

Differentiation of bending machines
It is quite clear that the quality factor must also be taken into account with these machines. There are many manufacturers on the market who offer bending machines with different adjustment possibilities and roll drives. ProHandling informs you comprehensively and manufacturer-independently about types and differences of different bending machines.
Profile bending is frequently used in bridge, railing, vehicle and ship construction. With profile bending machines you can bend any kind of profiles and tubes with different attachable rolls. Most profile bending machines can be used both vertically and horizontally. Why horizontally? In many cases, when the bending radius is slightly larger, the hall height is not sufficient. An important point to consider when purchasing. With lateral support rollers it is ensured that the bend is straight, if desired a spiral bend can be made through this.
The round or sheet metal bending machines are widely used in industries such as pipeline construction, tank construction and wind tower construction. These machines can be used for bending and straightening. There are versions with 3 or 4 rollers. An important point to keep in mind is the number of rollers used to drive the machine – this ensures more traction. For the longevity of the round bending machine, which is always desired, it must be ensured that the rolls are induction-hardened. Depending on what is to be produced, there is the possibility of asymmetric bending.
The mandrel bending machines are mostly used in pipeline construction for hydraulic or tank systems. These machines are almost always CNC controlled and can bend in any direction. The data is simply uploaded and the line is bent at the push of a button.
The drive of the bending machines
Depending on the type of bending machine, this point may vary; above a certain size, the roll adjustment and the drive of the rollers are mainly hydraulic.
How is a bending machine controlled?
Manual
The bending pressure applied to the profile or tube is set manually and controlled manually or electrically, depending on the design. This is more often used for smaller jobs. This version is mainly of interest for one-off production. The advantage is the favourable purchase price. However, in order to be able to work quickly and accurately, experience in working with a profile bending machine is required.
NC
NC control is an interesting solution for small batches. As with manual control, the appropriate bending pressure must first be set by the operator. As soon as this has been found, the setting can be saved and adjusted at the next profile bending at the touch of a button.
CNC
The CNC control is interesting for larger components, various small or large series. Here, only the parameters must be entered into the CNC control. The bending machine then bends the desired bending radius at the push of a button.
