Welding manipulators from ProHandling
Welding manipulators are used in industry for welding workpieces, but also for positioning components as assembly tables. A welding position improves the ergonomics when working and at the same time increases the quality of the weld seam.
With the welding manipulators from ProHandling, special attention was paid to the structure of the machine. As a result, the machines for their respective weight classes are very strong and durable. A remote control with digital display and 5m cable length is standard on all machines. The mechanical motor brake, which is always present, prevents the table top from turning further after switching off. An important point for the operator of the welding manipulator. As we attach great importance to quality, price and innovation in our selection, we are sure to have a good solution for you if you inquire directly now.
Types of welding manipulators
There are different types of welding tables such as L-type manipulator, lifting columns, rotary tables. The most common, however, are the 2-axis and 3-axis manipulators.
The 2-axis welding manipulator is a tilt and turn table. Is a very solid product, which has been used in industry for a long time. At ProHandling you get welding manipulators with digital speed display. This is important for the welder to be able to set the correct speed for the circumferential welding. These manipulators we have standard from 500Kg to 40t.
The 3-axis welding manipulator is a height-adjustable tilt and turn table. In addition to improving the welding quality, this also has the characteristic that it makes working considerably more ergonomic and pleasant. For this reason it is also ideal as an assembly table. We have these height-adjustable manipulators as standard from 500kg to 35t.
Use of welding manipulators
In most companies welding manipulators are used manually. Manual use means that there is a welder who adjusts the manipulator. The welder then stands at the table with his welding machine and starts to work.
Mechanized welding is often found in small series. It can be classified between manual and automated welding. It is a good solution for small and medium-sized businesses because the investment is lower and the system is easier to use. The welding manipulator then in most cases has a PLC control and must be set manually by the welder. The accessories can be adjusted without a great deal of specialist knowledge. A holder for the welding machine and an automatic pendulum machine are equipped with encoders. This application makes sense in the field of circumferential seam welding. An optimal welding manipulator for this is a 2-axis welding manipulator.
At every fair you are to see these huge robots. Totally exciting, they do it completely independently, 24/7 and 365 days a year. That would be an optimal employee for us. Each of us already had these thoughts when standing in front of a Kuka robot, for example. Automated welding is particularly interesting when complex welding is required or when working in large series. As standard, these welding systems consist of a welding manipulator with a servo motor, a welding robot and a complex CNC control. Also quite price-intensive. Therefore, we advise not to take this step too quickly. A high investment with high maintenance costs and trained CNC / welding personnel are not always given in the middle class. That’s why we thought about a solution for medium-sized businesses, a welding manipulator with UR5 welding robot that is easy to operate.
How can a welding manipulator improve welding quality?
A trained welder with 20 years of professional experience is unbeatable in terms of weld seam quality – at least on good days. This is often correct as long as this top welder is employed in your company and is healthy. The machine keeps it that way. The quality is improved by making hard-to-reach places accessible through positioning. In addition, there is an enormous simplification and quality improvement in circumferential seam welding. The optimum welding speed can be achieved by a fine speed adjustment. Because the table top of the welding manipulator rotates, the weld seam can be pulled through without settling.
How can the welding manipulator improve ergonomics?
Every welder knows the problem of hard-to-reach places on the workpiece and the uncomfortable working positions. Especially with a 3-axis rotary and tilting table, ergonomic working is possible. The axes turn the welding positioner into a height-adjustable welding manipulator. This means that the appropriate height can be set for each employee. The turn and tilt function allows you to position hard-to-reach areas of your work piece in such a way that they are easily accessible. Thus, the quality of the weld seam can be increased at the same time. Your employee will enjoy less pain in the back and you will enjoy fewer sick days.
How can I use a welding manipulator as an assembly table?
Why not use the advantages that a welding positioner offers the welder also in assembly. Here, too, there are employees of different sizes and places on the workpiece that are difficult to access. In this case we can recommend the 3 axis welding manipulator. These height-adjustable manipulators can enable optimal and ergonomic assembly. The standard table top is provided with T-slots, but can also be adapted to customer requirements. After fixing, set the appropriate height and turn the table top until you have reached the optimal accessible position.
